New Years Eve Hair, Makeup, & Dress Ideas

New Year's Eve is pretty much a formal occasion. A time to wear your hair up or glam waves. Make up is usually more on the glittery side. And of course your dress is short, sexy and festive.
Here are some ideas on what to wear for your night on the town.
Dress!!
If you go with a black dress, animal print shoes and red lipstick can give it a pop.

Also love all that glitters!!! NYE you can get away with these dresses, so why not?!

These black dresses are classy and chic.

If you don't have money to get an expensive dress. I would suggest a little black dress, strapless, halter or tank style. I am sure Forever XI or H&M has lots of stuff. Actually they do. Even the glittery dresses!

Perfect Red Lips tutorial

If you plan on doing a simple eye makeup and red lipstick. Try this trick of putting either concealer over your lips first to neutralize the color or white eyeliner!!! I am going to try this myself.

Fashion as Art // Alexander McQueen

British Designer
Alexander McQueen
17 March 1969 – 11 February 2010

A genius who designed way before his time. Visionary. He is missed.
I love the way he was rebellious with the traditional fashion views and only went by his own personal views and they were not influenced by outsiders. Brave. Taking risks is really a key role to being successful. Playing safe is predictable and boring. To truly innovate and invent you must think outside the box and not replicate. This is hard. But in the end it is the ultimate win. Alexander is an inspiration. His provocative and powerful pieces were magical and movie-like.
The way he worked is some what the way I thought he would. He was constantly thinking and his mind was working but it seemed like he was at rest doing nothing. Then he designed his whole collection in one day. One. I really do believe that if you have your family behind you on the things you want to do it matters. His family supported him from a young age on becoming a designer. As his father was a cab driver and so were most of his other family members. For him to go the entirely other way was - daring and courageous. Marching to his own drum. Fashion icon - forever.

Lustful Class

Fashionable diva

I have always loved the glamour and sex appeal of the classic all American Pin-up model look. Red lips, pale skin, flirty cat eyes, sex kitten heels, and curve hugging dresses. In an age where most women wear jeans, uggs, and a tee shirt as daily wear, vintage fashion brings back the femininity that our generation has lost. And when I say femininity, I do not mean tasteless, revealing, cheap clothes.

Men appreciate women when they dress as women. I know that seems obvious, but when you are wearing your sweat pants, flip flips and a tank, he is not that attracted to you. Men love to see a woman in a dress, skirt, or "all dolled up." And you know I really can't blame them. I love to look ultra feminine as well! It just takes hours!

So, in this day and age prepping for a vintage look takes careful planning. Like rolling your hair with sponge rollers at night and letting it set while you sleep. I have tried this and it works great! Put a scarf over the rollers and secure with pins. There are many videos on youtube on how to roll the rollers and also on vintage hair styles, makeup, & fashion. I highly recommend watching some & subscribing.

One of my fave Retro Glamour Gurus, Aja.

I think you can still have a modern look with some key glamour, old hollywood elements that will bring in that very sultry sex appeal that is classic and beautiful. Have fun with it! Thrift Stores are your friends. Even if you can't pull this off every day, once in while I think it's very pretty and a nice change of pace. The hairstyles do take LOTS of practice!!! Even myself, as a hairstylist I need to practice the different techniques and make sure I have them perfected. It's very much about hair control, pinning, back combing and styling with comb/brush. It looks simple when someone else does it. But believe me I have tried on myself and hopefully soon I'll get it right for my hair length, which is very short.
I adore the red, belted, wrap around dress with thick black glasses, red headband, short bangs, and black heels look. It is very cheeky, geeky, and down right sexy! A must have for me!

Check out my own youtube channel as I am going to doing tutorials soon!

Rachael Beauty Facebook Timeline

Here is a screenshot of my logo as my cover photo in the new Facebook Timeline.
I had to resize it slightly. I love the new look and features. It will take some time to get used to it but overall a redesign was well needed. Have you changed yours over, yet?
